As expected, most media outlets are plaguing our Facebook feeds with misleading news about cosmetic giant Sephora hitting NZ. Technically it is, through the introduction of Sephora.nz, which is already having issues keeping up with the vast amounts of visitors eager to get their hands on previously inaccessible brands.
Sephora.nz has launched with more than 140 brands available to browse through, with favourites such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, Kat Von D, Marc Jacobs Beauty and Sigma taking centre stage. The simple fact that New Zealand make up enthusiasts are finally able to get hold of Sephora’s affordable range, makes Sephora.nz something to definitely be happy about. However we are still missing big brands such as Urban Decay, Nars and Smashbox as well as the absence of fragrances, therefore loosing out on high end cosmetic brands such as Chanel, Guerlain, Givenchy and Burberry.
While online shopping in great for bingeing or re-buying favourite items, there is nothing like spending hours at Sephora trying on and playing around with the countless amounts of products, brands and price ranges. For the time being all we can do it hope this is a simple business strategy, with Sephora.nz deciding to start out small, testing the market and demand, before opening its doors somewhere in central Auckland.
